WINDHOEK, 04 SEP (NAMPA) – More than 100 general and senior officers in the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) were on Tuesday awarded medals of honour and recognition for their outstanding achievements in the service.
The civil servants received their medals from Chief of Defence Force (CDF), Lieutenant General John Mutwa, in the capital.
During the event, Mutwa explained that the awarding is done in recognition of members’ long service, dedication, bravely and heroic sacrifice in the service of the NDF.
“The military commanders have realised that recognition of meritorious service or deeds of bravely by way of conferring an honour inspires the recipients and their peers,” he said.
The different categories in which medals were awarded include Army Pioneer, Army 10 and 20 Years of Service and Operation Mandume.
Minister of Defence, Penda ya Ndakolo, during the same event, also encouraged the men and women in uniform to always be ready and willing to be deployed anywhere, in the presence of the necessary resources.
Commendation medals were also awarded to NDF members who distinguished themselves by outstanding service and utmost devotion to duty.
