Woman dies in shack fire at Karibib

WINDOEK, 03 SEP (NAMPA) – A 47-year-old women identified as Josephine Beukes reportedly burnt to death in the shack she was sleeping in at Karibib on Sunday.
The incident happened at the Harambee Informal Settlement between 03h00 and 04h00.
A media release issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday indicated that a candle was suspected to have caused the fire.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
In another incident, the body of John Isaks, 44, was found hanging with an electrical cable that was attached to the geyser around his neck at the Matutura Residential area of Mondesa at Swakopmund.
The incident happened on Saturday at about 13h00.
A suicide note was found at the scene, however the contents of the note could not be made public.
In a similar incident, a lifeless body of 57-year-old Dirk Visser was found in a residence in Swakopmund’s Crayfish Street on Saturday after he allegedly shot himself in the head with a revolver.
The incident happened at about 11h30 and the deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
