REHOBOTH, 03 SEP (NAMPA) – A 33-year-old man arrested on Saturday for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Rehoboth’s Block E residential area made his first appearance at the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Hafeni David appeared before Magistrate Desire Kamboua on a charge of rape, when his case was postponed to 25 September 2018 for him to acquire a State-funded lawyer.
It is alleged that David unlawfully and intentionally while applying physical force, and without consent of the victim forcefully raped the minor on Saturday in Block E.
He was denied bail as there is a likelihood of interference and granting him bail at this stage will not be in public interest.
David said he already applied for legal aid.
Public Prosecutor Victor Mutumbulwa appeared for the State.
The suspect is being held at the Rehoboth Police Station holding cells.
Investigations into the matter continues.
