Boffing wins 2018 KASU Dream Cup

WINDHOEK, 29 AUG (NAMPA) – Boffing football team from Ovitoto won the fourth edition of the 2018 Katutura Sport Union (KASU) Dream Cup competition which concluded at the Khomasdal Stadium on Sunday.
It beat its opponents Life In The City from Otjombinde by 2-0 in the finals.
Team manager Beleki Mbahuurua said in an interview with Nampa on Wednesday that his players are always committed and winning the finals is key in each competition they enter.
“This is our second trophy this year and I don’t put pressure on my players because they know their goals,” he said.
Most of the players, he pointed out are unemployed and the money they win help to cater for their needs.
On his part, team captain Ukarera Hukura expressed that he was delighted about winning the cup and commended his fellow players for their performance.
“We worked hard and committed ourselves throughout to win this competition which also motivated us,” he added.
He continued that the team’s spirit and the inclusion of young players in the team will take their team forward.
“Our goalkeeper Mervin Kasetura is playing for Tura Magic in the Namibian Premier League and that motivates us to do better always,” emphasised the captain.
Boffing took home N.dollars 8 000, a trophy plus 18 gold medals while the runners-up Life In The City received N.dollars 4 000 plus 18 silver medals.
The semi-finalists were Epukiro-based Otjimanangombe and Omutumba-okajeo who received N.dollars 2 000 each.
Renamo Bucks from Okombomi in Epukiro is the winner of the previous KASU Dream Cup which was held in 2016.
