A scourge of deaths due to murder, culpable homicide and suicide were recorded in the past week by the Namibian Police.
A 34-year-old male (name withheld for ethical reasons) succumbed to injuries at a clinic after he was stabbed in the chest with a knife by a 28-year-old male suspect at Groot Aub’s Dallas Grocer Bar.
It is alleged that this happened after the two erupted into an argument and the suspect has been arrested with the deceased’s next of keen informed.
In Omaruru an identified 26-year-old female died on the spot after she was assaulted several times on her neck and back with a sharp object by her ex-boyfriend aged 51.
It is alleged that the suspect broke open the deceased’s ghetto after which she escaped to neighbors where she was followed and attacked.
The boyfriend has since been arrested and next of kin have been informed.
In a separate incident reported in Otavi, a 39-year-old male died on the spot while passengers aged 36 and 44 sustained serious injuries after the driver lost control of a vehicle they were travelling in when it bumped on a horse.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and investigations are continuing.
In Oshakati, a 45-year-old male succumbed to injuries after he allegedly got stabbed once in the neck by a 23-year-old male suspect at Kutya Bar.
His next of kin have been informed and investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, a 15-year old (name withheld for ethical reasons) was found with a rope around her neck in her sleeping hut in Ongwediva.
No suicide note was found and her next of kin have been informed as investigations continue.
In Ongwediva again, an identified male of 33 years of age died on the spot after he allegedly shot himself in the head with a 15mm Beretta pistol.
No suicide note was found and his next of kin have been informed.
In Omitara, a 19-year-old male died on the spot after he was allegedly shot with a 9mm pistol leading to the arrest of two suspects aged 37 and 51.
In another incident, a three-month old baby (name withheld for ethical reasons) died in her sleep while with her mother and a postmortem is yet to be conducted.
