Otavi road accident victim identified

OTJIWARONGO, 28 AUG (NAMPA) – A 39-year-old man who died instantly after the sedan vehicle he was driving hit a horse on Saturday night near Otavi, has been identified.
Paulus Hashiyana was positively identified on Sunday by his close relatives, spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Tuesday upon enquiry.
“Hashiyana died due to severe impact when he drove into the horse which was standing in the middle of the B1 road near Otavi. Four other occupants aged between 29 and 44 sustained light to serious injuries,” she added.
The accident occurred some three kilometres south of Otavi at about 20h00 on Saturday.
The injured persons were taken to Otavi Clinic shortly after the incident and transferred to the Tsumeb State Hospital the same night.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
