Two teenagers die in accident on Keetmanshoop-Berseba road

KEETMANSHOOP, 19 AUG (NAMPA) – Two teenagers died in a car accident on the Keetmanshoop-Berseba gravel road on Saturday.
Eight others were injured in the incident that occurred around 14h30, 30 kilometres outside Keetmanshoop, the Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for //Kharas, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Laurentius Fredericks, who was the driver, and Geraldo Plaatjie, 15.
Mubebo said Fredericks lost control over the vehicle and it overturned.
“The driver did not have a licence,” he said.
Godfried Bock and Jayden Esterhuizen, both 15; Rezenzo Bock, Sylvanus Jossob, Franklin Esterhuizen and Lloyd Jacobs, all aged 16; and 17-year-old Innacios Jacobs and Berend van Staden were injured and taken to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital.
The next of kin of the deceased have been informed and police investigations continue.
