WINDHOEK, 17 AUG (NAMPA) – Morcar Fishing Company on Thursday donated N.dollars 120 000 to the Friends of Education in Namibia Special Initiative (FENSI) under the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.
Initiated by Education Minister Katrina Hanse-Himarwa in 2015, FENSI’s objectives include attracting support from friends and potential friends of education, arts and culture but in a less bureaucratic manner of engagement than Government’s operations.
During the handover in Windhoek, Hanse-Himarwa said of the N.dollars 120 000, N.dollars 10 000 each will go to Suiderhof Primary School in Windhoek and Danie Joubert Combined School in Mariental.
The remaining N.dollars 100 000 is meant for the Omwangete Project School in the Kunene Region and the minister urged the company to buy necessities for the school and hand it over themselves.
“The path of development in any country starts with education as well as conducive environments for its people to prosper,” she said.
Morcar Director Tarah Shinavene noted that this was not the first time they have extended a hand to the ministry.
“We donated an amount of N.dollars 50 000 to the Forum for African Women Educationalists Namibia (FAWENA) through FENSI last year,” he said.
