ONGWEDIVA, 16 AUG (NAMPA) – Yet another woman has allegedly been killed by her boyfriend, this time at Okatope village in the Oshikoto Region Wednesday night.
Confirming the incident in a telephonic interview with Nampa on Thursday, Inspector Ellen Nehale of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the region, named the victim as Albertina Shipale Sakaria, 26.
She said a 28-year-old man, thought to be the deceased’s boyfriend, was arrested early Thursday morning in connection with the killing. He is expected to appear on a charge of murder in the Magistrate’s Court at Ondangwa on Friday.
“It is alleged that the suspect hacked the deceased with a panga three times in the head, three times on the left arm and one time on the left leg and she died on the spot,” Nehale said.
She added that the suspect fled the scene before the police apprehended him at a nearby village.
Sakaria is the second woman to be murdered in less than a week, following the alleged murder of Monica Tuluudeni Ndatilowala Pedro, 25, by her boyfriend, Hipangelwa Hafeni, 23, at Onandjaba in Omusati last Friday.
Hafeni made a brief first appearance in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday and his case was postponed to 15 October this year for further police investigations and for him to obtain legal representation.
