NamPol to conduct child online sexual abuse training workshop

WINDHOEK, 15 AUG (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police (NamPol) will conduct a training workshop to capacitate law enforcement officers with knowledge and skills to respond to issues of child online sexual abuse and exploitation on Monday.
The training workshop is an initiative of NamPol's Gender-based Violence Protection Division.
Head of NamPol's Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi announced in a media statement availed to Nampa here on Wednesday that the first phase of the two-week training is scheduled for 20 to 31 August this year and will involve social workers and crime investigating officers within the force.
The training will also, among other things, touch on the issues of raising awareness to safeguard children from online risks including abuse and sexual exploitation, following increased digital engagement of children due to the availability and usage of things such as internet and mobile phones.
