New NEAB, NIDA board members announced

WINDHOEK, 09 AUG (NAMPA) – The Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development, Tjekero Tweya announced the new Board of Directors for the Namibia Industrial Development Agency (NIDA) and the Namibia Estate Agents Board (NEAB) in the capital on Thursday.
Speaking at the announcement, Tweya said that these appointments are constitutional and should be respected.
“I will be in charge of these boards. You are all under my responsibility,” Tweya said.
The NIDA board will be led by Frans Kwala and Marcelina !Gaoses as chairperson and vice chairperson respectively.
Other members are Diana van Schalkwyk, Anita /Naris, Job Muniaro, Hans Jochelson and Uparura Kuvare.
The NIDA board’s term is effective from 01 August 2018 to 30 July 2021.
“I have no doubt that this Board is equally excited like me to drive industrialisation, trade and SME development,” the minister said, adding that the board will ensure collective transformation of Namibia into an industrialised economy.
The new NEAB is comprised of Anne Gebhardt, Nelly Neliwa, Amalia Schmidt, Tjizembua Hongonekua, Philip Namundjebo, Agostino Victor and Ricky Hameva.
According to the minister, the chairperson and vice chairperson will be selected by the NEAB members themselves.
Tweya also stated that this is temporary board while the process to repeal the Estate Agents Act No. 112 of 1976, as amended by Amendment Act No. 28 of 1987, is underway.
“The ministry drafted the Namibia Property Practitioners Bill to repeal the current Estate Agents Act, the former being approved in principle by Cabinet,” he said.
The minister concluded by wishing the two boards all the best in the execution of their duties.
