Minor girl raped at Oshikuku

WINDHOEK, 06 AUG (NAMPA) – A man is on the run after allegedly raping a 13-year-old mentally challenged girl at the Oshikuku village in the Omusati Region on Friday.
According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s crime report released on Monday, the suspect allegedly lured the victim to nearby bushes and raped her.
The incident was witnessed by a passer-by who alerted the family immediately.
Police investigations in the matter continue as well as the manhunt for the suspect.
In another incident, a 14-year-old Grade 6 learner was allegedly raped by a 30-year-old suspect on Sunday around 02h00 at Okwandja village in the Omuntele area in the Oshikoto Region.
The suspect allegedly raped the victim twice in his sleeping room.
The victim, according to the NamPol report, was left in the house with the cousin by their sick grandmother who was away for two hours to seek medical treatment.
The victim allegedly informed the neighbours who notified the police about the incident and the suspect was arrested.
Police investigations continue.
In a separate incident, a one-year-old baby died instantly after allegedly being run over by a car in Kuisebmund in the Erongo Region on Friday around 13h15.
It is alleged that the baby went under the parked car without being noticed.
“The 32-year-old driver started the ignition and drove over the baby who died instantly,” the report reads.
A case of culpable homicide was opened against the driver and police investigations continue.
