Man killed in head on collision with truck near Rehoboth

REHOBOTH, 05 AUG (NAMPA) – A man died in a head-on collision between a sedan and a vehicle carrier near Rehoboth on Saturday.
The accident was reported to the police around 23h50, the Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa Sunday.
He said the accident occurred some three kilometres outside Rehoboth.
“It is alleged that a Mazda sedan overtook another vehicle on a curve and collided head-on with the Jan Japan Motors truck. The driver of the Mazda died on the spot and the passenger was injured and rushed to St Mary's Hospital in Rehoboth,” Clay said.
The driver of the truck and his wife escaped unhurt.
The deceased has been identified, but his name cannot be revealed as his next of kin have not yet been informed.
Police investigations continue.
