Okondjatu hit and run victim identified

OTJIWARONGO, 31 JUL (NAMPA) – The 41-year-old man who died after being run over at Okondjatu settlement in the Otjozondjupa Region on Sunday, has been identified as Tuemujekashi Tjipuahu.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa Tjipuahu was identified on Monday by family members.
He was run over by a 19-year-old boy driving a pick-up near the Okondjatu Police Station.
The suspect faces four charges after fleeing the scene of the accident.
“The driver was arrested by the police shortly after the accident on the Okondjatu-Otjinene road,” Mbeha said.
He will appear before the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of culpable homicide; failure to render assistance to the victim; failure to establish injuries sustained by the victim and failure to report the accident to the police.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
