Mariental murder suspect denied bail

REHOBOTH, 30 JUL (NAMPA) – The man arrested for the alleged murder of 51-year old Willem Johannes Pieters in Mariental last Wednesday, made his first appearance on a murder charge in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The accused, Patrick Skrywer, 57, appeared before Magistrate Verinao Kamahene and was denied bail as police investigations are still in the early stages.
It is alleged that Skrywer stabbed Pieters in his throat on 25 July, upon which the deceased was rushed to the Mariental State Hospital, but succumbed to his stab wounds the next day.
The incident occurred in Mariental’s Ombili informal settlement.
Public Prosecutor Loide Nghixulifwa represented the State.
Skrywer was remanded in custody and is being held at the Mariental Police holding cells.
