Woman found dead at Grünau hitch-hiking point

WINDHOEK, 29 JUL (NAMPA) – A 32-year-old woman was found dead at a hitch-hiking point near Grünau in the //Kharas Region Saturday morning.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for the region, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Sunday the deceased, Imelda Rooi, was found around 08h00.
“The body was found in a bush in a pool of blood, her head severely beaten with a rock. She was found by members of the public,” he said.
It is suspected that Rooi was murdered Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday.
Mubebo said no arrests have been made so far.
Her next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man is expected to appear in court on a charge of attempted murder after he locked his girlfriend in a room and assaulted her using rocks at Keetmanshoop on Saturday.
Mubebo said the 45-year-old woman was taken to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital and is now in stable condition.
The man has been arrested and police investigations continue.
