OTJIWARONGO, 29 JUL (NAMPA) – A 40-year-old pastor at the Osire Refugee settlement is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court Monday on charges of raping two minor girls.
The male pastor allegedly had sexual intercourse with the two minor children, who are sisters aged 10 and 12, between March and 22 July this year.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Sunday told Nampa the suspect was arrested at Osire on Friday.
Mbeha said the children on Friday told their mother the pastor had been having sexual intercourse with them and offered them money in return.
“Their mother then reported the matter to the police, which led to interrogations and his arrest,” said Mbeha.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
Osire Refugee settlement is situated about 120 kilometres south-east of Otjiwarongo and houses more than 4 500 refugees.
