Mariental man dies after being stabbed

REHOBOTH, 27 JUL (NAMPA) – A 51-year old man succumbed to his stab wounds at the Mariental State Hospital on Thursday after he was stabbed by a 57-year-old man on Wednesday.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa the deceased was identified as Willie Johannes Pieters.
He was stabbed at about 21h00 in Mariental’s Ombili informal settlement.
“It is alleged that the deceased was stabbed with a knife on his throat and rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries Thursday at about 13h07,” Clay noted.
The suspect was arrested and set to appear in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Clay said it is unknown at this stage what led to the stabbing and investigations continue.
