Gurirab memorial service commences

USAKOS, 18 JUL (NAMPA) - Proceedings for the memorial service of former Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament, Theo-Ben Gurirab have started in Usakos.
Gurirab died in Windhoek on Saturday.
The hearse went from Gurirab’s sister’s home to the Jubilate Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Hakhaseb residential area, where a sermon would be held and community members given the opportunity to pay their last respects.
Among the dignitaries in attendance are Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Alpheus !Naruseb.
Tributes will be delivered by Gurirab's son Dantago Gurirab and Usakos community members.
Nandi-Ndaitwah will address the mourners on behalf of the Namibian Government.
Another memorial service will be held in Windhoek on Friday, when Gurirab’s body will lie in state at Parliament Gardens, before his burial at Heroes’ Acre outside Windhoek on Saturday.
