WINDHOEK, 13 JUL (NAMPA) – A court case against some members of the Caprivi Concerned Group (CCG) has been withdrawn from the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court.
The group of six men were arrested on Sunday at Liselo village, some 10 kilometres outside Katima Mulilo after they attempted to hold a public meeting.
According to Namibian Police Head of Media Relations, Chief Inspector Kaunapawa Shikwambi in a media release on Friday, the withdrawal was done to allow sufficient time for the matter to be investigated without unnecessarily impeding on the rights of the accused persons.
“The Namibian Police Force as the custodians of law and order wish to encourage members of the public not to associate themselves with any unlawful activities in general and in this regard,” she added.
Shikwambi also reminded the public that NamPol will not relent in carrying out its mandate of maintaining law and order and the preservation of the internal security of Namibia.
The CCG members were arrested for allegedly conspiring to engage in subversive activities to secede the Zambezi Region from Namibia.
