RUNDU, 13 JUL (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Kavango East Region said an unidentified man, whose body was found floating in the Kavango River at Kayengona village on Saturday, had drowned.

NamPol Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu when contacted for more information on Thursday said a post mortem was conducted to determine the cause of death and it was found that the person drowned.

Kanyetu said the deceased is believed to have been suffering from epilepsy, which is suspected to have caused him to fall into the river and drown.

The body was found stuck in a fishing net by villagers who then alerted NamPol.

According to the police, the deceased is from the Onayena district in the Oshikoto Region and was taken to Rundu by family members to seek healing from a traditional healer.
