WINDHOEK, 11 JUL (NAMPA) – Professor Supporters Club will host its fourth July Handicap horse racing competition at Okondjatu in the Otjozondjupa Region on 28 July.
One of the organisers of the event, Stone Katuuo told Nampa on Tuesday this is a big occasion done in the spirit of promoting horse racing in Namibia. To this end, the organisers have set aside N.dollars 100 000 for the preparations.
“Many horse racing lovers are in rural areas and this will be great for them to witness this competition in their area,” Katuuo said.
According to Katuuo, the money put aside for the competition will be disbursed among the winning horses.
The chief marketing officer of the club, Benjamin Kasuto urged horse owners to register their horses in advance to avoid last minute disappointment.
According to Kasuto, about 30 horses have so far registered and the number is expected to increase.
“Due to the high demand for this year’s competition, we will only take eight horses per race,” he said.
The horses will compete in the following divisions: Nambred beginner, Nambred maiden, Nambred graduation, D-division, A-division and Thoroughbred.
