RUNDU, 08 JUL (NAMPA) – The body of an unknown adult male was found floating in the Okavango River at Kayengona village, some 20 kilometres east of Rundu, on Saturday.
Witnesses speaking to Nampa at the scene said the body was spotted by someone who was washing their clothes at the river and that person alerted the police.
The body was found stuck in a fishing net. The police however suspect that it might have floated to Kayengona from elsewhere.
The Namibian Police Force’s Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu on Sunday said a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The deceased has not yet been identified and police have urged the public to come forward and identify the man.
“Anyone who is looking for a missing loved one can visit the police station or contact me for more details and identification of the body,” said Kanyetu.
