WINDHOEK, 05 JUL (NAMPA) – The Standard Bank branch in Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region has been temporarily closed to its customers since Monday, due to damage caused by a burglary early that morning.
The bank’s marketing department in a media release issued on Wednesday said although no money was stolen during the break-in, there has been some damage caused to items in the bank which require repairing.
The branch is expected to return to its normal functioning hours on Monday, 09 July.
The facility was broken into during the early morning hours of Monday and a blow torch was suspected to have been used in damaging the bank’s safe.
A suspect in the matter was shot dead during a shootout with members of the Namibian Police Force between Okahandja and Windhoek on Tuesday, while a 45-year-old male was arrested.
Four suspects remain at large and investigations continue.
