WINDHOEK, 17 JUN (NAMPA) – Khomas Second Division Swallows Football Academy (SFA) on Saturday walloped rivals Impala Chiefs 9-0 in a match played in Windhoek at the Sam Nujoma Stadium and moved to third on the log.
The SFA started the Round 22 match on fire with Dwaine Kinda scoring two goals in succession for a 2-0 lead.
Although trailing by two goals, Impala Chiefs did not give up and pressed hard for a goal causing all sorts of problems for the Swallows defence.
The ‘Birds’ as Swallows are also known, suppressed the pressure and added another goal through Ronaldino Kgobetsi to go into half time with a 3-0 lead.
The maroon and white outfit came out fired up in the second half and scored their fourth goal of the match through Kgobetsi for his second goal of the match.
Kinda added another two goals for his fourth of the match and sixth goal for Swallows.
Impala Chiefs had no answer for Swallows’ attack as the Birds ran riot with Riogino Goagoseb, Rasindino Xoagub and Vilho Nghikumwa adding one goal apiece for a 9-0 final score at the end of the match.
Speaking to Nampa afterwards, Swallows coach Jakobus Steyn admitted that although the score line was huge, Impala Chiefs did not make it easy for them.
“Our opponents gave us a run for our money in the first half pressing us hard. Had they converted the chances they had, the game could have been different,” he noted.
