WINDHOEK, 15 JUN (NAMPA) – The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), Petronella Masabane will undertake an urgent trip to Zambia on Monday, where two universities were banned from offering health courses to Namibian students.
This follows an alert by the Namibian High Commission in Zambia that Cavendish University Zambia and the Lusaka Apex Medical University, have been banned from continuing to offer health courses to 91 Namibian students.
Upon enquiry on Friday, Masabane could not divulge the reasons as to why those universities were banned from continuing to offer health courses to the students, but explained that she and her delegation will go and assess the situation and take appropriate action.
She said the outcome of the visit will then be shared with the public.
Masabane thus assured the parents and the public at large that the MoHSS would not allow the situation to negatively impact the performance of the students and its human resource development programme.
She will be accompanied by representatives from the Health Professions Council of Namibia and the University of Namibia’s School of Medicine.
