Abduction-accused teacher makes first court appearance at Keetmanshoop

KEETMANSHOOP, 14 JUN (NAMPA) – The teacher who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old school girl made her first appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Valery Bock, a teacher at Suiderlig Secondary School, is charged with abduction under the Combating of Immoral Practices Act 21 of 1980.
She appeared before Magistrate Melissa Mungunda who granted bail of N.dollars 4 000 and postponed the case to 31 July this year for further police investigations and for Legal Aid application. The State was represented by Atulala Shikalepo.
The 45-year-old Bock allegedly abducted the Grade 9 learner and kept her at her house for four days.
The girl was found inside a wardrobe in Bock’s house in the Lemoendraai residential area after a search warrant was issued for the girl.
It is suspected that Bock was involved in a romantic relationship with the girl.
