Zambia wins second match of Debmarine Pent Series

WINDHOEK, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – A dominant Zambia national senior netball team beat Botswana 58-41 on Sunday in their second match of the 2018 edition of the Debmarine Namibia Pent Series underway in the capital.
The second edition of Netball Namibia (NN)’s senior international netball tournament is being hosted at the Israel Patrick Iyambo Police College in Olympia, Windhoek from 09 to 13 June.
Host Namibia who have two teams at the championships are competing against Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
On Sunday afternoon, Zambia, who won their opening match of the competition 57-39 against Namibia’s developmental team on Saturday, continued where they left off , thrashing a Botswana team who lost their opening match of the championship 50-33 against Namibia’s senior team in a match also played on Saturday.
Zambia took the lead as early as the first quarter with a 15-8 score line.
In the second quarter, they extended their lead to nine points while dominating the match with their fast-paced netball and that quarter ended 28-19.
The third quarter saw Zambia extending that lead with 14 points to end the quarter with a 44-30 score line and in the last quarter, they finished off their opponents with a 17-point advantage to end the match 58-41.
The tournament, which is being used by teams to improve their rankings, is sanctioned by the International Netball Federation and will count as a ranking event for participating countries.
