Gibeon-Amperbo road victim identified

REHOBOTH, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – The victim in the motor vehicle accident on the Gibeon-Amperbo road that took place on Friday has been identified.
Namibian Police Force's Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay on Saturday told Nampa the victim was identified as 54-year-old passenger, Maria Links.
According to preliminary police reports, the accident involving a pickup truck occurred at around 19h45 on the D1066 gravel between Gibeon and Amperbo, approximately 25 kilometres from the settlement.
It is alleged that the pickup carrying five passengers and a casket with a body meant for burial left the road after the right rear tyre burst and it overturned.
The other injured persons were transported to the Mariental State Hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating culpable homicide in the case.
