EENHANA, 10 JUN (NAMPA) – A 28-year-old man died after he was allegedly attacked by four youths inside the Anglican Church at Odibo in the Ohangwena Region on Saturday morning.
He was declared dead upon arrival at the St Mary’s Hospital situated a few meters from the church, where he was taken shortly after the incident.
Confirming the incident the same day, Warrant Officer Kaume Iitumba of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the region identified the deceased as Titus Kaluvi from Okatale village near Odibo.
“It is alleged four boys aged between 17 to 21 years attacked Kaluvi and one of them hit and seriously injured him with an unknown object, which might have resulted in his death,” said Iitumba.
According to Iitumba, the deceased was attending a church-related meeting with the suspects and other youth.
Although what led to the attack is still unclear, it is believed that his demand for those wearing caps in the church to remove them, angered the suspects.
The four suspects have been arrested and are set to appear in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Police investigation into the matter continues.
