Kunene NamPol close gap on Outjo Football Academy

REHOBOTH, 04 JUN (NAMPA) - Opuwo's Kunene Namibian Police (NamPol) Football Club collected six points at home during Round 8 and 9 matches played over the weekend in the Kunene Second Division Football League.
The men in uniform moved to within two points of log leaders Outjo Football Academy, who are on 21 points after defeating Sixty Eleven 4-0 on Saturday and beating Black Africa Warriors 2-0 on Sunday.
Log leaders Outjo Football Academy could only muster four points from their two matches against Outjo’s PUBS, whom they defeated 1-0 on Saturday, with the other point coming in the draw against Betlehem Boys on Sunday.
League vice-chairperson, Bensley Hanaseb confirmed the results and said they are well on track to conclude the first leg.
“Our aim is to finish with the first leg over the weekend of 09 June. So far it has been smooth sailing,” he said.
In other Round 8 matches played on Saturday, Revengers defeated Black Africa Warriors 1-0, while Gariseb Orlando Pirates and Etosha United played out a 1-all draw.
In Khorixas, Robber Chanties failed to capitalise on their home ground advantage as they were hammered 3-0 by Young Eagles.
Sunday in the Round 9 matches, Green Dangers defeated PUBS 1-0 in Kamanjab, with Revengers defeating Sixty Eleven 3-1, also in Kamanjab.
Gariseb Orlando Pirates and Young Eagles drew 1-all in Khorixas, while at the same venue Robber Chanties lost 3-0 against Etosha United.
Outjo Football Academy leads the log with 21 points, followed by Kunene NamPol in second place with 19 points.
In third place are Young Eagles with 16 points. They are followed closely by Etosha United in fourth place, who are level on 15 points with Gariseb Orlando Pirates, who scored two goals less than United’s four goals.
Revengers with nine points, Green Dangers on seven points and Robber Chanties with three points are the three teams at the bottom, with all teams having played nine games.
