WINDHOEK, 28 MAY (NAMPA) – Young Brazilians Football Club (FC) went three points clear atop the log on Saturday after they defeated Try Again FC 2-0 in a Southern Stream First Division Inland Stream top-of-the-table clash played in Karasburg.
The two teams were both tied on six points each and met for the first time this season.
Young Brazilians took the lead in the first half trough a well-taken goal by Reginald Vries midway through the first half.
Try Again did all they could, but failed to score the much needed equaliser as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of home team.
In the second half, Young Brazilians piled pressure on Try Again and moments later scored their second goal of the match through Vries, who completed his brace.
Young Brazilians coach, Tolla Julius on Saturday said they stifled the midfield play of Try Again to cut the supply of through balls to their forwards.
“The instruction to my players was simple, just to win the second ball and not afford Try Again to lay their passing game. We played most of our balls from the wings and that’s how we punished them,” Julius remarked.
He said while their aim is to win the league, they were not taking anything for granted.
In other matches played on Saturday in the Inland Stream, Ramblers hammered Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) 4-1 in the ‘German Derby’ with Desmond Isaacks scoring a hat trick and Eugene Angula adding one with Elden Kaangundue scoring a consolation goal via a free-kick for Ramblers.
Windhoek United eased their woes with a 1-0 victory over Rebels with Roberto Steyn scoring for the maroon and yellow outfit.
Rebels also missed a penalty with the score locked at 1-0.
