KEETMANSHOOP, 23 MAY (NAMPA) – The Lüderitz Town Council (LTC) will commence its clean-up campaign on Thursday ahead of the national one set for Friday.
LTC Public Relations Officer (PRO), Peya Mushelenga explained to Nampa on Wednesday that Thursday will be the corporate clean-up day where the community will be cleaning all company, government and SME buildings and areas at the town.
He added that on Friday, the community will be gathering at different points in the residential areas such as Lüderitz Stadium, Nautilus Secondary School and Nautilus playground, and will move into groups thereafter to clean the coastal town.
Other points include the Area 7 playground, Benguela Hall, Magistrate Hall, Area 2 playground and Cassinga taxi rank.
Refuse bags, gloves and face masks will be provided.
Mushelenga called on residents to be active in the campaign, emphasising that a clean nation is a healthy nation.
“As part of this Namibia-wide initiative, we encourage all residents of Lüderitz to help clean our town,” he said.
President Hage Geingob early this year declared 25 May 2018 as the national clean-up campaign day.
