Rehoboth man fined for smuggling drugs into holding cells

REHOBOTH, 21 MAY (NAMPA) – Willem Uichab, the 33-year-old man arrested Saturday at the Rehoboth Police Station’s holding cells, was on Monday fined N.dollars 700 for two counts of drug possession.
Uichab, a visitor at the holding cells, was arrested after two parcels of cannabis and one mandrax tablet was found in a loaf of bread he had brought for an inmate.
He made his first appearance in front of Magistrate Desire Kamboua and pleaded guilty on both charges.
On the first charge of being in possession of dependence-producing drugs he was fined N.dollars 400 or two months imprisonment and on the second charge, similar to the first charge, he was fined N.dollars 300 or one month imprisonment.
Uichab conducted his own defence, while prosecutor Leonard Mateus appeared for the State.
