WINDHOEK, 19 MAY (NAMPA) Vice President (VP) Nangolo Mbumba will on Wednesday lead a pre-clean-up campaign as a curtain raiser for the nationwide clean-up campaign scheduled for 25 May.
A media statement issued by the Office of the VP on Friday indicated that the cleaning will commence at the Kenya house before proceeding to the old State House.
The VP will be joined by Deputy Ministers of Veterans Affairs and Disability and Marginalised Communities Hilma Nikanor and Alexia Manombe-Ncube respectively as well as some officials.
The purpose of this curtain raiser is to mobilise the entire nation to heed to the Head of States call to join him in the nationwide clean-up campaign scheduled for Friday.
In a bid to reclaim Windhoeks status as the cleanest city in Africa, the President last October revealed his intentions to set aside a day on which all Namibians would be called upon to partake in a nationwide clean-up of the environment.
He then suggested 25 May as the national clean-up day. The day also coincides with Africa Day.
