REHOBOTH, 18 MAY (NAMPA) The Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) teams are readying themselves for the kick-off this coming weekend to be played in the Khomas, Erongo and ||Kharas regions.
League Vice Chairperson Murs Markus on Thursday confirmed the fixtures and said teams are ready to start.
The league will start this coming weekend and it is all systems go. We have divided the league into two streams of six teams each, namely the Inland and Coastal Stream, he said.
Gareth #Eichab, coach of Khomas Namibian Police (NamPol) Football Club which is part of the Coastal Stream on Thursday said the kick-off is long overdue.
We cant wait to get the ball rolling and to play football at last, he said.
Quinton Visagie, the coach of Try Again which is part of the Inland Stream, said they cannot wait to start.
We have been preparing for months, he said.
In the Coastal Stream on Saturday at Kuisebmond Stadium, rookies Northern Stars will face an acid test at home against Okahandja-based Spoilers at 12h00 followed by Western Spurs and Khomas NamPol at 14h00.
The Inland Stream will see Touch Down Young Brazilians welcoming rookies Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) to Karasburg Stadium at 14h00, while at the J Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop, Try Again will battle it out against long time campaigners Windhoek United at 14h00.
Ramblers and Rebels will square off in Windhoek at the Ramblers Stadium at 14h00.
Sunday matches in the Coastal Stream scheduled for Kuisebmond Stadium will see Northern Stars confronting Khomas Nampol at 12h00, followed by Western Spurs and Spoilers at 14h00.
At Mondesa Stadium in Swakopmund, PC Blue Boys will face Flamingoes at 15h00.
Inland matches will see TD Young Brazilians battling Windhoek United at Karasburg Stadium at 10h00, with J Stephanus Stadium playing host to Try Again versus SKW.
The winners in each stream will play in an elimination match for a spot in the Namibia Premier League promotion matches, while the two last teams in each stream will be relegated automatically.
