REHOBOTH, 17 MAY – Golden Bees Football Club (FC) from Outjo, campaigning in the North West Stream First Division (NWSFD), is ready to win the league in search of a promotion to the Namibia Premier League (NPL).
The NWSFD is scheduled to kick off this weekend with rounds 1 and 2 with Golden Bees facing Onambula United on Saturday and Oshikuku Young Stars on Sunday.
Golden Bees coach, Hardley Ortner on Thursday said the team is well prepared and will stop at nothing to gain promotion to the NPL.
“We have been training hard since January in preparation for the league’s kick-off and the Debmarine matches and the match fitness of the boys is at the top level. We have been playing against teams from the premier league in the Debmarine cup and we identified our weak areas that we worked on during our preparations,” Ortner said.
He added that with the talent at their disposal, Golden Bees need to be in the flagship league of the country.
“Golden Bees is a big team in their own right and need to play in the NPL. Our aim this season is to win at all costs and gain promotion to the league via promotion play-offs and be counted as one of the big teams coming out of Outjo,” he noted.
The team, he stressed, showed during the Debmarine matches that it can compete against any team and thus owes it to their fans to bring premier league football to the town.
“This is our time and we need to repay our fans and supporters for their loyalty by bringing NPL football to Outjo. We need to be up there with the best,” the coach remarked.
Golden Bees, along with Friends FC from Rehoboth, were relegated in 2006 from the NPL with Friends now playing in the Hardap Second Division.
