REHOBOTH, 14 MAY (NAMPA) The North East First Division (NEFD) football league Round 2 played on Sunday went without hiccups.
We had no issues and I foresee a league campaign without any problems, said league Chairperson Mpasi Haingura on Sunday.
The league kicked off Saturday in Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Bagani, Rundu and Oshikango.
In Saturdays matches of Pool A, Black Hawks and Kangweru Black Tops drew one-all at the Katima Mulilo Stadium, while Ntunguru defeated Eastern Chiefs 1-0 in Bagani.
Pool B saw Oshikango Chiefs beating Young Rangers 6-0 at the Ohangwena Independence Stadium, while K.K United schooled Benfica 6-1 at the Nkurenkuru Stadium.
Julinho defeated Cuca Tops 1-0 at the Rundu Sports Stadium.
A total of 17 goals were scored to bring the total goals scored over the weekend to 33.
Meanwhile, Round 3 and 4 of the NEFD will be played this coming weekend in Kangweru, Rundu, Nkerunkuru and Tsumeb.
As we all know we are in a race against time to finish, so we have to complete the league before the world cup, Haingura noted in a separate interview with Nampa on Monday.
In Pool A matches scheduled for Saturday at 14h00, Kangweru Black Tops will face Black Hawks at the Kangweru Stadium, while at Rundu Sports Stadium, Bingo United will battle Black Hawks also at 14h00 followed by United Stars going up against Eastern Chiefs at the same venue.
In Pool B also on Saturday K. K United will confront Oshikango Chiefs at Nkurenkuru Stadium slated for 14h00, with Young Rangers versus Julinho Sporting slated for Oscar Norich Stadium in Tsumeb at 14h00, followed by Benfica and Cuca Tops completing the line-up at the same venue.
On Sunday in Pool A, United Stars will face Black Hawks at the Rundu Sports Stadium at 11h00 followed by Bingo United doing battle with Eastern Chiefs.
Pool B will see two matches at Oscar Norich Stadium with the first match of the day starting at 11h00 between Benfica and Julinho Sporting followed by Young Rangers and Cucua Tops at 13h00.
