NEFD opens with a bang

REHOBOTH, 13 MAY (NAMPA) – The North-East Stream First Division (NESFD) football league’s first round on Saturday produced 16 goals in the five matches played at Nkurenkuru, Oshikango, Bagani, Rundu and Katima Mulilo.
“We finally kicked off the league without issues,” said NESFD Chairperson Mpasi Haingura on enquiry Saturday.
The league is divided into two pools, each consisting of six teams.
In Pool A at the Katima Mulilo Sports Stadium, Black Hawks lost their opening game against Ntunguru 0-1, while at the Bagani Stadium, Eastern Chiefs defeated Kangweru Black Tops 2-0.
In the game at the Rundu Stadium, Bingo were defeated by United Stars 0-2.
Pool B matches at Oshikango saw Oshikango Chiefs scoring two goals without reply from Benfica, while K.K United hammered Young Rangers 7-2 in Nkurenkuru.
The matches will continue on Sunday, with Black Hawks facing Kangweru United at the Katima Mulilo Stadium, while Eastern Chiefs will confront Ntunguru at the Bagani Stadium.
Julinho Sporting will square off against CucaTops at the Rundu Sports Stadium.
In Pool B, Oshikango Chiefs will battle against Young Rangers at the Ohangwena Independence Stadium, with K.K United taking on Benfica at the Nkurenkuru Stadium.
