Kavango East and Khomas in NYG netball final

WINDHOEK, 12 MAY (NAMPA) – The Kavango East and Khomas netball teams reached the final of the maiden edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) underway here.
The two teams gave their all to win their nail biting encounters in the most exciting and closely contested semifinals.
Kavango East, the champions of the 2018 The Namibian Newspaper Cup Netball tournament, beat Omaheke 38-37 to reach the final.
Khomas also had a close encounter with the 2018 The Namibian Newspaper Cup netball finalist, Erongo, for their spot in the final. They came from behind to beat Erongo 48-47.
Erongo led the first three quarters of the match (12-7; 24-20; 38-32) and only lost their footing in the last quarter.
Khomas took over in the fourth quarter and overcame their opponents to win by a single point.
The final will be played Saturday afternoon after the third and fourth place play-off between Omaheke and Erongo.
Over 1 800 athletes are participating in football, athletics, basketball, boxing, judo, netball, swimming, tennis and volleyball at this year’s edition of the NYG.
