WINDHOEK, 11 MAY (NAMPA) - A 29-year-old man was arrested at Warmquelle in the Sesfontein Constituency on Wednesday for alleged theft of more than N.dollars 12 000.
The suspect, according to the crime investigations coordinator of the Namibian Police Force in Kunene, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu, went into the car of the 45-year-old complainant, opened a safe with pliers and took N.dollars 12 900. He left N.dollars 1 230.
The complainant told police he was keeping the money in his car to feed his family.
He allegedly only realised on Wednesday that the money was stolen after finding the suspect and some other men under the influence of alcohol.
The money, according to Kanyetu, must have been stolen before or on Monday.
Kanyetu warned the public not to carry large amounts of money on them, as it exposes them to danger.
No money has been recovered.
