REHOBOTH, 07 MAY (NAMPA) – A total of 12 goals were scored in Round 2 of Kunene Second Division football league played on Sunday.
Outjo Football Academy scored seven goals in their match against Kamanjab-based Revengers, who could only manage one goal on their home ground.
Young Eagles, on the other hand, stumbled 0-1 against Black Africa Warriors at home in Okaukuejo, while Etosha United and Sixty Eleven played to a goalless draw at the Ombika Stadium.
In Opuwo, Kunene Namibian Police (NamPol) defeated Green Dangers 1-0, while Betlhem Boys and PUBS were squared one-all at the Etoshapoort Stadium in Outjo.
Speaking to Nampa on Sunday, league vice chairperson Bensley Hanabeb said despite three games of the first round being postponed, the rest of the matches went well on Saturday.
The PUBS versus Robber Chanties and Bethlem Boys versus Gariseb Orlando Pirates matches scheduled for the Outjo Etoshapoort Stadium were postponed due to belated independence celebrations there. The Revengers vs Green Dangers game that was scheduled for Kamanjab was not played due to an unplayable pitch.
He said they will communicate the dates on which the matches will be played to the involved teams and apologise for the inconvenience caused.
“Despite this, the games went well and we are looking forward to a good season,” Hanabeb remarked.
In matches played on Saturday, Kunene NamPol ground out a goalless draw against Outjo Football Academy at the Opuwo Stadium, while Etosha United defeated Black Africa Warriors by 3-0 at the Ombika Stadium.
