Slow start to Swapo 58th Anniversary celebration in Mariental

MARIENTAL, 28 APR (NAMPA) – The Swapo party’s 58th anniversary celebrations in Mariental in the //Kharas Region started off at a slow pace on Saturday, with only a few supporters showing up to the activities scheduled for the morning.
The festivities kicked-off on Friday evening with a gala dinner that preceded by music from the Ndilimani Cultural Troupe, which played until the morning hours of Saturday.
A march that was slated for 07h00 only attracted about 20 people as Namibian Police Force officials waiting patiently for others to arrive.
In an interview with Nampa on Saturday, Swapo //Kharas Information and Mobilisation Officer, Micheal Situde said the march will start from Empelheim Junior Secondary School and proceed through Oshiwana Penduka to the Mariental Showgrounds.
Swapo party president and Head of State, Hage Geingob will address the gathering.
Lucia Witbooi will serve as programme director with the assistance of Priscilla Isaacs.
The programme is expected to start at 11h00.
