Windhoek man in hospital after being set on fire

WINDHOEK, 24 APR (NAMPA) – A 26-year-old man has been admitted to the Katutura State Hospital in Windhoek after he was set on fire Saturday night.
A media statement issued Tuesday by City Police Public Relations Officer, Fabian Amukwelele said the incident occurred at the corner of Dusseldorf and Frankfurt streets in Agtste Laan, Otjomuise area.
“Two young men, both aged 17, allegedly poured petrol on the victim and set him on fire before fleeing the scene,” said Amukwelele.
It is alleged that the victim and suspects had been arguing over money and had reportedly smoked an illegal substance before the incident.
The victim sustained third degree burns on his stomach, neck and back.
One of the suspects was arrested and appeared in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The other suspect is still at large.
