Rehoboth teen arrested for alleged drug possession released into parents’ care

REHOBOTH, 24 APR (NAMPA) – A 17-year-old girl arrested for alleged possession of drugs on Saturday in Rehoboth’s Block E residential area, was on Monday released into the care of her parents.
The accused, whose name cannot be revealed as she is underage, made her first appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Desire Kamboua.
She was arrested after Rehoboth Namibian Police officers confiscated 250 small parcels of cannabis worth N.dollars 16 000 in Block E after a police search.
The matter was postponed for juvenile screening to be conducted while the investigations into the matter continue.
The girl is set to appear on 08 May 2018.
Public Prosecutor Mateus Leonard appeared for the State.
