Two die in car accident at Gava village

RUNDU, 23 APR (NAMPA) – Two people died after the driver of the vehicle they were traveling in lost control of the car and it overturned at Gava village in the Kavango West Region on Saturday.
Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for the Kavango West Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Mbumba told Nampa on Monday that the accident happened on the Nepara-Gava gravel road.
The vehicle is believed to have left the road, then hitting a tree, causing all passengers to be flung out of the vehicle, leaving most with serious injuries.
One of the victims was transported to the Nkurenkuru Health Centre, but was declared dead upon arrival, while the other died later at the Rundu State Hospital.
Their next of kin are yet to be informed.
Mbumba further said that two police officers who had gone to attend to the accident scene, were also involved in car accident on their way back.
He said the vehicle of the two officers overturned on the same gravel road and hit a tree as well.
They escaped the accident without injuries, but the vehicle sustained serious damage.
