WINDHOEK, 21 APR (NAMPA) – The Moses //Garoeb Constituency office in Windhoek donated equipment worth N.dollars 150 000 to small and medium enterprises and home-based projects on Friday.
Fourteen beneficiaries received equipment and materials that will assist in uplifting their businesses from Moses //Garoeb Constituency Councillor, Martin David.
David said the income-generating activities grant aims to support small businesses so they can become self-sustainable.
He commended the small business owners for taking the initiative to become self-employed and in so doing assisting the government in eradicating poverty.
“You are creating employment opportunities for yourself and for others in the local market,” he said.
One of the business owners who benefited from the same programme last year was Patrick Wilbard, who owns Yaachipa Investment. They repair and install air conditioners and fix refrigerators.
He told Nampa on the side-lines of the event the equipment boosted his confidence to market himself and expand his business.
He said he is thankful to the constituency office for rendering their assistance and providing him with the opportunity to grow.
“I gained a lot of customers through marketing, which led to me employing four workers,” Wilbard said.
