Eenhana to host 2018 Critical Thinking competition

WINDHOEK, 19 APR (NAMPA) The second edition of The Namibian Critical Thinking Competition will take place in Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region from 01 to 03 May, with all 14 regions expected to take part.
The debating competition is sponsored by local English daily, The Namibian Newspaper.
During the official launch of the competition in the capital on Thursday, Namibian Schools Debating Association Vice President Adelinu Anton said it is aimed at boosting learners confidence to speak in public, enhance research methods, as well as promote logical argumentation.
The competitions other objectives include developing critical thinking amongst Namibian school children, Anton added.
There will be 28 teams in total, with two teams from each region expected to take part.
The Namibians Acting Editor, Christof Maletsky said Namibia needs critical thinkers and this competition prepares and enables learners to start thinking critically at a young age.
Debating is seen as a sharpener for ones reasoning and can push the learners and give them critical thinking capacity.
Last years competition was held in the Kavango Region.
The event will be facilitated by the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.
