REHOBOTH, 17 APR (NAMPA) Four players have been withdrawn from the Brave Warriors squad for the friendly match in Swaziland on Thursday due to injury.
A media statement availed to Nampa by the Namibia Football Association on Tuesday said Vernon Klaasen, Kennedy Eib, Absalom Iimbondi and Panduleni Nekundi have been withdrawn.
Coach Ricardo Mannetti on Monday called up 27 players and will reduce the team to 20 players before they depart on Wednesday.
Top goal poacher, Nekundi of African Stars, as well as Mighty Gunners duo Eib and Klaasen will join Tigers captain Iimbondi on the side-lines.
This is not a International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) sanctioned match and the technical team cant run the risk of using injured players because the league is still ongoing and the Debmarine Cup is in full swing, the statement quoted Mannetti as saying.
He said they had training at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Tuesday and most players were on form, except the four who are suffering from minor injuries.
We decided it was best to remove them from the squad, he said.
He further said Namibians should not forget that this is an experimental team and with the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) games fast approaching, the technical team is still scouting for new players.
The players are as follows:
Ratanda Mbazuvara (African Stars); Immanuel Immanuel (Tigers); Edward Maova (Civics); Ferdinand Karongee, Kennedy Amutenya and Rehabeam Mbango (Tigers); Tjinotjiua Tjiuana Tja (African Stars); Donovan Kanjaa (Young African); Kleophas Useb (Life Fighters); Riaan Hanamub (Orlando Pirates); Charles Hambira and Petrus Shitembi (Tura Magic); Ronald Ketjijere (African Stars); Gustav Isaak (Tigers); Himeezembi Hengombe, Elvis Patire and Ikuaterua Hoveka (Young African); Marcel Papama (UNAM); Mapenzi Muwanei (Tigers); Willem Pinehas and Josef Ngifindwako (Eleven Arrows); Marius Hashipala (Blue Waters) and Itamunua Keimuine (Tura Magic)
