OKANGWATI, 10 APR (NAMPA) – The Okangwati Combined School on Friday received donations worth N.dollars 125 816 from various businesses.
The 11 televisions, farming equipment and one bicycle were donated by Namasset, Allan Grey, Investec, Sea Flower White Fish Corporation, Epupa Falls Lodge and Project Kaokoland.
The school’s principal, Joshua Shikongo told Nampa the televisions have been installed in 11 classrooms to help improve the learners’ academic performance in English, mathematics and science.
Shikongo thanked the donors for the gifts.
Learners at the school are mostly from marginalised communities such as the Ovatue, Ovashimba, Ovazemba and the San.
Shikongo said they face many challenges.
“We still need renovations on the hostel as well as the fence of the entire school as this contributed to learners leaving the school premises undetected,” he said.
Namasset Chief Executive Officer Eino Emvula promised that his company will keep assisting the school.
Okangwati is situated 120 kilometres north of Opuwo.
